Starting Something New

This last we got our schedule down! I feel like I'm finally getting things done and I'm on top of things. We've been going to bed earlier and waking up earlier, and what a difference it makes! I've been going to a yoga class monday and water aerobics class monday - thursday, and i LOVE it! Its gotta be the best way to start your day off, I get to go with my mother-in-law Ingrid (she is very faithful and has been doing it for over a year) and I love going with her! Its a great group of women that go and I've had a really great time!

I've been trying to set some new goals for myself, and I've really been feeling like I need to work on my talents. I took private art lessons for 5 years while I was in high school and since i finished the class I really haven't continued drawing. So i've set a few goals, I will set aside some time each day to work on some art projects. I also need to start playing the piano and singing again (my in-laws have an amazing grand piano). And I am going to start singing to Caden at the piano. My mom set aside time each morning to sing with me and my siblings, and I definitely attribute our many musical talents to that!

Really the most important thing in my life right now is being a mom. I couldn't think of anything that could make me happier than spending time with my little family. Taylor and I just sit in awe at how wonderful our baby is, we have so much fun playing with him. We have been trying to teach him to throw a ball (he is definitely way too young by the way) and Taylor will throw the ball to him and he'll pick it up off the ground. It goes straight to his mouth and i'll fling his arm to get him to release his death grip on it. He really doesn't understand, but we sure have fun doing it, but starting him off early will definitely help with his coordination (i hope!!)! I'm sure as soon as Caden is walking Taylor will have a baby sized lacrosse stick in his hands, teaching him how to play catch!

I love my boys with all my heart! We hope you are all well!

Oh the Sounds He Makes

video
We finally got Caden's classic sound on video, he has done this since he was 4 months old. If you wiggle your finger in his mouth he will always make some sort of noise! He obviously understands that it sounds funny and likes to hear himself! He is also sitting up by himself in this video, so for those of you who haven't seen it here's the proof!

Little Messy Man

Caden is officially 6 months old as of January 25th!!  I decided to wait to feed him baby food until now, and oh boy.. i've been pretty excited to start! Our first try was with Apple and Banana, it definitely wasn't his favorite.. and then that night he spit up twice and had a fever. I thought it might have been an allergic reaction, but he ended up being sick for a few days so i'm pretty sure it wasn't allergies. Our second try was just plain bananas. I have been letting him try fresh mashed bananas for a few months and he really likes them. The baby food bananas is a little different reaction. Haha, he pulled a pretty bad pucker face but after a few bites he really seemed to like it! He also loves to drink water out of a regular cup, so i give him a few bites and let him drink out of the cup. By the end of his meal the water is totally disgusting and full of back wash! The hardest thing with the baby food has to be keeping their hands and face clean. Caden kept rubbing his eyes and got it right between his eyebrows and all over his face. Its so much fun seeing him grow and progress. I love this little boy with all my heart!

We love music in this family and we're so glad our little boy does too! Hopefully with time and practice he will become even more talented on the piano!

Family Photo Shoot

Here are a few pictures from our family photo shoot we had just after Christmas. Taylor's entire family was able to come out for christmas and it was so fun to be able to get pictures with everyone there.

Names of the family from left to right. Top: Taylor, Bret, Ross, Britton and Bryce. Bottom: Me, Caden, Ingrid, Triest (and the baby in her belly ;) and Maddy

The men showing off their guns (taylor got a call from his employee right when they took this)

It was a little chilly outside so we left Caden inside with his Uncle Ross. They watch us through the window, and Caden ended up being so funny that our photographer started taking pictures of him.

We sure do love our baby!

Caden's First Lemon

video
This video is from November 19th, I just remembered i had it. We were at Olive Garden and Taylor decided to let Caden try his first lemon. The video is pretty funny, but it ended right before the best part! He did the sour shiver, we were both laughing so hard. Everyone was probably thinking we were torturing our child, but we really weren't being THAT mean ;)

The Start of a New Year

The holidays are always so fun, but it sure is nice when they are over and a new year starts. I always have a hard time getting back into the swing of things. One of my goals for this year is to get up early and go to bed early. I have to keep reminding myself, its not always gonna be hard.. it takes some time to build habits! Taylor's kiosk is doing well, he is a hard worker. I really appreciate everything he does for our little family, I couldn't ask for a better man. Caden is learning and growing so much every day. I look at him every day and see my baby turning into a little boy. He is very good at rolling over, he can get basically anywhere he wants. We've had a few rolling off the couch incidents, so he is no longer left on the couch alone.I thought for sure, at the rate he was going, he'd be crawling before he was able to sit up. It took him quite a while to get the whole balancing thing, he has such a tiny bum he would end up tipping over after a few seconds. But he is now a successful sitter! He is so much fun, he's all smiles and laughs (unless of course he's hungry or tired), we enjoy him so much!

...and all eternity

This past year has gone by so fast, I honestly can't believe it. Taylor and I celebrated our one year anniversary on January 2nd, it has been the happiest year of my life. not only was this one year mark an important milestone in our marriage, it also meant our time was waiting to be sealed as a family. We set our special day to be January 3rd. Taylor and I were sealed as husband and wife for all eternity. It was a moment of so many emotions: relief, love, gratitude and happiness. But I have never felt more joy (other than Caden's birth) than at the moment when our son was brought through those doors, dressed in white with a huge smile on his face, to be sealed to Me and Taylor for time and all eternity. Knowing that I will be with my family forever is the greatest blessing. We are so grateful for all the love and support we have received over the past year. Thank you for believing in us and helping us get where we are today.

A New Kind of Christmas

This year was a first for a lot of things, Mine and Taylors first Christmas as husband and wife, Caden's first Christmas,  and for me.. Christmas with a new family.  It was so fun to be a part of new traditions and introduce Taylor to some of mine! Both of Taylor's sisters and their families came out for Christmas this year so we spent the holidays at the Van Leeuwen's home. Christmas Eve we had a big party with friends and family.  We had dinner with amazingfood, we sang Christmas songs, and of course we opened a few presents. WhenCaden was handed his present he thought he wouldshow off by trying to open it with his mouth (he wasn't very successful). As one Christmas tradition I made  matching Pajamas for Taylor and Caden. Although there was a huge size difference, they looked like a cute Father Son set of twiners.

Christmas morning we agreed to meet upstairs at 8:00, which for me is quite a late start on Christmas morning since myfamily always wakes up at least by 5:00.  We all gathered at the top of the stairs so we could all see what Santa brought us together. Caden's biggest surprise was the new live talking Elmo, of course he doesn't quite  understand what Elmo is saying, but he is quite content to just stare at him.

Christmas afternoon we went down to my family's house. The moment we walked through the door all my wonderful Christmas memories came to mind. Christmas at my house was always the best. We hadn't even put our stuff down and my little brothers rushed upstairs screaming "finally we get to open presents!" they had saved every present under the tree to be opened with us there (now that was a shocker)! Caden was spoiled beyond belief, i've never seen a baby with so many toys, it's not hard to tell he's very loved. My Grandma and Grandpa Lambson came down for dinner we all had a great time talking and eating. It is always so fun to be with family at Christmas, we are definitely lucky that they live so close. We are truly blessed with so many things.

The gospel being the greatest of all the blessings we have, what a wonderful time to reflect on the birth of our Savior. Happy Holidays!
